Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the area, bringing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Meanwhile, nearly one thousand residents in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area saw its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to 598 requests for assistance across the region, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

During the peak on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
