The Two Senior Officers Moments Before the Aggressor Got Stunned

A police sergeant who rushed to the help of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a blade to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in that location in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Officer stabbed," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera recording made public by the police department depicted Brown, wearing in black with a head covered, approach to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.

He collided with the officer who tripped and fell to the ground, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a clear shot, bringing the struggle to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide something on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his neck and further wounds to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster received slash wounds.

Officials reported Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his colleague's bleeding before medical personnel came.

The latest award follows after the trio of policemen were granted departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in April 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in summer 2024.

"The actions of all three officers in the end rescued themselves and ensured no bystanders endured any injuries."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to authorities.
